Suskind Film Update #3~ December 22, 2005
Hello Friends!
We are now packing to leave for Virginia to be with Karen’s family over the holidays. Everyone here is rushing around
(except for Ben who was well-organized and is still asleep!) so this will be a quick note.
The Soundtrack CD is complete – it looks and sounds great! Let me know if you would like a copy.
We did hear from the Berlin Film Festival and we were not accepted this year. It’s disappointing, but it means
that we will have more time to spend with all of our friends in Holland in February. We read that Sundance
received 7500 applications for 60 slots, and we know that Berlin’s numbers are about the same, so we really
don’t feel too bad!
Our fundraising campaign was given a nice year-end boost this week when we received a $5,000 grant from
the Rabb foundations in Boston! Special thanks to Alan Morse and Michealle Larkins for shepherding
that process for us.
After celebrating Christmas in Virginia, the four Morses will drive up to Washington DC next week for a
long-overdue visit to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. We will tour the museum and we also have a meeting
with Genya Markon, a friend of Hilde Goldberg’s who is in charge of the Museum programs dealing with hidden
children. Although our current “leaders” in Washington have cut the Museum’s acquisition budget quite severely,
Genya is excited about finding a way to incorporate “Secret Courage” into programs for the coming year. We will
report back to you!
So, we hope this message finds you well and warm. As we say in the politically correct USA:
“Happy Whichever Holiday(s) You Are Celebrating!”
We will be in touch again right after the New Year and we look forward to continuing this adventure with you in 2006.
Fondly,
Karen & Tim |
